Abu Dawud (5005), Tirmidhi (2853), and Ahmad (6543) all narrated it from Nafi bin Umar, from Bishr bin Asim, from his father, from Abdullah bin Amr, who mentioned it.Its isnad is hasan because of Asim bin Sufyan, the father of Bishr. Ibn Hibban said, "He had companionship [with the Prophet]." Baghawi and Ibn Sakan said it is said that he had companionship, and that he settled in Madinah. But the correct view is that he was a Follower from the people of Makkah, from whom a group of narrators reported, and he is truthful, as Hafiz said in Taqrib. The one who had companionship is a different person from this one.His saying, "He hates the eloquent among men," means excessive elaboration in speech and exaggerated articulation of the letters.His saying, "yatakhallalu," means he twists his mouth affectedly while speaking, puffs up his tongue, and wraps it around his words the way a cow wraps its tongue.His saying, "al-baqurah," in the dialect of the people of Yemen means "cow," as mentioned in the document on zakat for the people of Yemen, "for every thirty baqurah," as found in Nihayah.
