Tirmidhi (3340) narrated it through multiple routes from Abdul-Razzaq, from Maamar, from Thabit Bunani, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla, from Suhayb, who related it in a lengthy narration, and it has been documented in its proper place. Ahmad (18937) also recorded it with a different chain from Thabit Bunani in similar wording, except that he did not mention "Asr." Its chain of transmission is sahih.As for his saying "al-hams," it refers to a faint, low sound. Allah Most High says, "and voices will be hushed for the Most Merciful, so you will hear nothing but a faint sound" [Surah Taha 20:108]
