The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not speak excessively about anything other than the remembrance of Allah, for speaking excessively about anything other than the remembrance of Allah hardens the heart, and the person furthest from Allah is the one with a hardened heart."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: لا تكثروا الكلام بغير ذكر الله، فإن كثرة الكلام بغير ذكر الله قسوة للقلب، وإن أبعد الناس من الله القلب القاسي.
Narrated by Tirmidhi (2411) and Bayhaqi in Shu'ab (4600), both through the route of Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Hatib, from Abdullah bin Dinar, from Ibn Umar, who related it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Ibrahim bin Abdullah, who is Ibn Harith bin Hatib Jumahi. A group of narrators transmitted from him, and Ibn Hibban said in al-Thiqat, "His hadith is straightforward." Tirmidhi said, "Hasan gharib, we do not know it except through the hadith of Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Hatib."
