The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever claims allegiance to people other than his own masters has cast off the collar of faith from his neck."
أن النبي ﷺ قال: من تولى غير مواليه فقد خلع ربقة الإيمان من عنقه.
Imam Ahmad narrated it (14562) from Abu Amir Aqadi, who said, Yaqub bin Muhammad bin Talha told us, Khalid bin Abu Hayan told us, from Jabir, who said, then he mentioned it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Khalid bin Abu Hayan, the freedman of Huzaylah, a woman from Banu Dinar. Abu Zura was asked about him and said, "A Madinan and trustworthy," as found in al-Jarh wal-Tadil. Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators.Haythami said in al-Majma (1/115), "Ahmad narrated it, and it contains Khalid bin Abu Hayan, whom Abu Zura deemed trustworthy, and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahihayn."
