Narrated by Tabarani in Kabir (9/58), and Hakim (3/313), both by way of Muhammad bin Abdullah Hadrami, who said, Abu Kurayb told us, Ubaydullah bin Musa told us, from Sulayman bin Abu Sulayman, from Abu Hashim, from Ibrahim, from Alqama, from Abdullah bin Masud, and he related it. Its chain is sahih. Abu Hashim is Rumani Wasiti, whose name was Yahya bin Dinar, though some said Ibn Aswad, and others said something else. Ibrahim is Ibn Yazid Nakhai, and Abu Kurayb is Muhammad bin Ala Kufi.Hafiz attributed it in Fath al-Bari (10/582) to Tabarani and graded its chain sahih. Haythami said in Majma (8/56), "Its narrators are the narrators of the sahih."Bukhari narrated in the Book of Funerals, following hadith (1390), from Hilal Wazzan, who said, "Urwa bin Zubayr gave me my kunya, though no child had been born to me." Hafiz said in Fath al-Bari (10/582), "The kunya of the aforementioned Hilal was Abu Amr, though some say Abu Umaya, and others say something else."Bukhari also narrated in Adab al-Mufrad (849), from Alqama, who said, "Abdullah bin Masud gave me my kunya before any child had been born to me." And in it (848), from Ibrahim, "that Abdullah gave Alqama the kunya Abu Shibl, though no child had been born to him."Hafiz said in Fath al-Bari (10/582), "Saeed bin Mansur reported, by way of Fudayl bin Amr, I said to Ibrahim, I have taken the kunya Abu Nadr though I have no child, and I hear people saying that whoever takes a kunya without having a child is Abu Jafar. Ibrahim said, Alqama used to be called Abu Shibl, and he was barren, no child was ever born to him."
