Abu Dawud narrated it in al-Kuna, as mentioned in al-Isabah (3/458), from Muhammad bin Ismail bin Salim, from Muhammad bin Fudayl, from Waki, from Hisham bin Urwa, from his father, from Ayesha, and he related it.Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ismail and his teacher Ibn Fudayl bin Ghazwan, for both of them are saduq.Abu Dawud also cited it with a suspended chain in his Sunan, in the Book of Manners (4958), saying, "The Prophet ﷺ changed the name Aas (the Disobedient One), and Azeez (the Mighty One), and Utla (the Harsh One), and Shaytan (Satan), and Hakam (the Judge), and Ghurab (Raven), and Hubab (a name derived from a serpent or from vanity), and Shihab (Flaming Brand), naming him Hisham instead. He changed Harb (War) to Salm (Peace). He changed al-Mudtaji (the Reclining One) to al-Munbaith (the One Who Rises Up). A piece of land called Afra (Barren Ground) he renamed Khadra (Green Land). Shib al-Dalalah (the Valley of Misguidance) he renamed Shib al-Huda (the Valley of Guidance). Banu al-Zinyah (the Sons of Illegitimacy) he renamed Banu al-Rushdah (the Sons of Right Guidance), and Banu Maghwiyah (the Sons of Error) he renamed Banu Rushdah (the Sons of Right Guidance)."Abu Dawud said, "I have omitted their chains of transmission for the sake of brevity."Al-Hafiz graded the hadith sahih in al-Isabah.
