The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade a man from putting on his sandals while standing.
نهى رسول الله ﷺ أن ينتعل الرجل قائما.
Abu Dawud (4135) narrated it from Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahim Abu Yahya, who said, Abu Ahmad Zubayri informed us, who said, Ibrahim bin Tahman narrated to us, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, who said, and then he related it.Its chain is hasan because of Abu Zubayr Muhammad bin Muslim bin Tadrus, and Nawawi likewise graded it hasan in Riyad al-Salihin.The jurisprudence of the hadith, the prohibition is to be understood as guidance and instruction. Putting on sandals while standing may not allow the wearer to put them on properly, but if putting on sandals while sitting causes difficulty for others, then there is no harm in putting them on while standing, because the sharia came to remove hardship. For this reason, I do not know of anyone who has taken the prohibition to mean an absolute ban.
