The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you put on your clothes and when you perform ablution, begin with your right side."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إذا لبستم وإذا توضأتم فابدءوا بأيامنكم.
Narrated by Abu Dawud (4141), Tirmidhi (1766), Ibn Majah (402), and Ahmad (8652), and graded sahih by Ibn Khuzayma (178) and Ibn Hibban (1090), all of them from the hadith of Amash, from Abu Salih Zakwan Samman, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it. The wording of Tirmidhi is, "When he put on a garment, he would begin with its right side." Its chain is sahih. However, Tirmidhi found fault with it, saying, "More than one person has narrated this hadith from Shubah, (from Amash), with this chain, from Abu Hurairah, as a stopped narration, and we do not know of anyone who made it a raised narration except Abdul-Samad bin Abdul-Warith, from Shubah."This is what he said, but others besides Abdul-Samad have also raised it, and Shubah has been corroborated in raising it. The ruling goes to whoever adds more.
