I asked, "Messenger of Allah, what about a man I come upon who does not host me or show me hospitality, and then he later passes by me. Should I host him?"He replied, "No, host him."The narrator said, the Messenger of Allah saw me wearing shabby clothes and asked, "Do you have any wealth?"I replied, "I have wealth of every kind. Allah has given me camels and sheep."He said, "Then let it show on you."
قلت: يا رسول الله الرجل أمر به فلا يقريني، ولا يضيفني فيمر بي، أفأقريه؟ قال: لا، أقره قال: ورآني رب الثياب فقال: هل لك من مال؟ قلت: من كل المال، قد أعطاني الله من الإبل والغنم قال: فلير عليك
Narrated by Tirmidhi (2006), Abu Dawud (4063), Nasai (5223), Ahmad (15888), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (5416), and Hakim (1/24, 25), all of them from the hadith of Abu Ishaq, from Abu Ahwas, from his father, who related it. Some of them limited themselves to mentioning the garment without the story of the hospitality. Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Abu Ahwas is Awf bin Malik bin Nadla Jushami.His saying, "aqirhu," means "host him," and al-qira means hospitality.
