The Prophet ﷺ saw a man drinking while standing and said to him, "Vomit it out."The man asked, "Why?"The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Would it please you to have a cat drink with you?"The man said, "No."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then one worse than a cat has drunk with you, Satan."
عن النبي ﷺ أنه رأى رجلا يشرب قائما فقال له: قه، قال: لمه؟ قال: أيسرك أن يشرب معك الهر؟ قال: لا، قال: فإنه قد شرب معك من هو شر منه الشيطان.
Ahmad (8003) and Bazzar in Kashf Astar (2896) both narrated it through the route of Shubah, from Abu Ziyad Tahhan, who said, I heard Abu Hurairah say what has just been mentioned. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Abu Ziyad, who is the freed slave of Hasan bin Ali. Ibn Main deemed him trustworthy, and Abu Hatim said, "A shaykh whose hadith is sound."
