The Prophet ﷺ arose to consummate his marriage with Safiyyah, so I invited the Muslims to his wedding feast. He ordered that the leather mats be spread out, and dates, dried curd, and clarified butter were placed upon them.
قام النبي ﷺ يبني بصفية، فدعوت المسلمين إلى وليمته، أمر بالأنطاع فبسطت، فألقي عليها التمر والأقط والسمن.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Foods (5387) from Ibn Abu Maryam, who said, "Muhammad bin Jafar informed us, Humayd informed us that he heard Anas say," and he mentioned it.Bukhari also narrated it in the Book of Prayer (371), and Muslim in the Book of Marriage (1365:84), both of them through the route of Ismail bin Ulaya, who said, "Abdul-Aziz bin Suhayb narrated to us, from Anas, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raided Khaybar," the hadith in full.At its end it reads, "The Prophet ﷺ woke that morning as a bridegroom, and he said, 'Whoever has something with him should bring it.' He spread out a leather mat, and one man would come with dates, and another would come with clarified butter."His saying "leather mats" is the plural of "mat," which is a rug made of leather.
