The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should belittle any act of kindness. If you find nothing to give, then meet your brother with a cheerful face. And if you buy meat or cook a pot of stew, make plenty of broth and ladle out some for your neighbor."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: لا يحقرن أحدكم شيئا من المعروف، وإن لم يجد فليلق أخاه بوجه طلق، وإن اشتريت لحما أو قدرا، فأكثر مرقته، واغرف لجارك منه.
Ibn Majah (3362) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar, and Ibn Hibban (523) narrated it through the report of Abdul-Malik bin Hawdha bin Khalifa, both of them from Uthman bin Umar, who said, Salih bin Rustum narrated to us, from Abu Imran Jawni, from Abdullah bin Samit, from Abu Dharr, and he related it. The wording given is that of Ibn Hibban.Muslim narrated it in the Book of Righteousness and Kinship (2626) from Abu Ghassan Musmai, who said, Uthman bin Umar narrated to us with his chain, but he did not mention in it the ruling about increasing the broth, and this is a sahih addition. Israil followed Uthman bin Umar in transmitting this addition, from Salih bin Rustum with his chain, and Tirmidhi (1833) narrated it through his route.Tirmidhi said, "Hasan sahih, and Shubah has narrated it from Abu Imran Jawni." I say, he is pointing to what Muslim recorded from the report of Shubah, from Abu Imran Jawni, as mentioned previously.
