The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was never seen eating while reclining, nor were two men ever seen walking behind him at his heels.
ما رئي رسول الله ﷺ يأكل متكئا قط، ولا يطأ عقبه رجلان.
Reported by Abu Dawud (3770), Ibn Majah (244), and Ahmad (6549), all of them through Hammad bin Salama, from Thabit Bunani, from Shuayb bin Abdullah bin Amr, from his father, and he related it.Its chain of transmission is hasan on account of Shuayb bin Abdullah bin Amr, who is Shuayb bin Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Amr. His saying "from his father" refers to his elder father, that is, his grandfather Abdullah bin Amr bin As. This has been made explicit by Ahmad (6545) in the chain of another hadith, "Hammad bin Salama narrated to us, from Thabit Bunani, from Shuayb bin Abdullah bin Amr, from his father Abdullah bin Amr."His saying, "and no two men walk behind his heel," means that no two men walk behind him, that is, he does not let his companions walk ahead of him.
