My father sent me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to invite him to a meal. He came along with me, and when I drew near the house, I hurried ahead and informed my parents. They went out, met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, welcomed him, and we laid out for him a velvet cloak that we had with a thick pile, and he sat upon it.Then my father said to my mother, "Bring your food."She brought a bowl containing flour that she had thickened with water and salt, and she placed it before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, "Eat from its sides in the name of Allah, and leave its top, for the blessing is in it."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ate, and we ate with him, and some of it was left over. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah, forgive them, have mercy on them, bless them, and grant them abundance in their provisions."
بعثني أبي إلى رسول الله ﷺ أدعوه إلى الطعام، فجاء معي، فلما دنوت من المنزل أسرعت، فأعلمت أبوي، فخرجا، فتلقيا رسول الله ﷺ، ورحبا به، ووضعنا له قطيفة كانت عندنا زئبرية، فقعد عليها، ثم قال أبي لأمي: هات طعامك، فجاءت بقصعة فيها دقيق قد عصدته بماء وملح، فوضعته بين يدي رسول الله ﷺ، فقال: خذوا بسم الله من حواليها، وذروا ذروتها؛ فإن البركة فيها، فأكل رسول الله ﷺ، وأكلنا معه، وفضل منها فضلة، ثم قال رسول الله ﷺ: اللهم اغفر لهم، وارحمهم، وبارك عليهم، ووسع عليهم في أرزاقهم.
Ahmad (17678) narrated it from Abu Mughira, who said, Safwan bin Amr told us, who said, Abdullah bin Busr Al-Mazini told me, and he mentioned it. Its isnad is sahih. Ibn Hibban (5299) also graded it sahih, narrating it by another route from Safwan bin Amr in abridged form, with some difference in its wording.
