Whenever we were present with the Prophet ﷺ at a meal, we would not place our hands in the food until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began and put his hand in first.Once we were with him at a meal when a young girl came rushing as if she were being pushed forward, and she went to put her hand in the food. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took hold of her hand. Then an Arabi came rushing as if he too were being pushed, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took hold of his hand as well. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Satan considers food lawful for himself when the name of Allah is not mentioned over it. He brought this girl so he might make the food lawful through her, but I seized her hand. Then he brought this Arabi so he might make it lawful through him, but I seized his hand. By the One in whose hand my soul is, his hand is in my hand along with hers."Wazad added in another narration, "Then he mentioned the name of Allah and ate."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Drinks (2017:102) through Abu Muawiya, from Amash, from Khaythama, from Abu Huzaifa, from Huzaifa, who said... and mentioned the hadith. His statement, "His hand is in my hand along with hers," means the hand of Shaytan and the hand of the girl were in the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
