The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not initiate the greeting of peace with Jews or Christians, and when you meet one of them on a path, force him to its narrowest side."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: لا تبدؤوا اليهود ولا النصارى بالسلام، فإذا لقيتم أحدهم في طريق، فاضطروه إلى أضيقه.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Greetings (2167) from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Abdul-Aziz (meaning Darawardi) told us, from Suhayl, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.Abu Dawud narrated it (5205) through Shuba, from Suhayl bin Abu Salih, who said, "I went out with my father to Syria, and they began passing by monasteries containing Christians, and they would greet them with peace. My father said, 'Do not initiate the greeting of peace with them, for Abu Hurairah told us from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ'," and he mentioned something similar.
