Narrated by Abu Dawud (5204), Ibn Majah (3701), and Ahmad (27561), all of them through the route of Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Ibn Abu Husayn, who heard it from Shahr bin Hawshab saying, "Asma bint Yazid told me," and he related it. The wording given is that of Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah, while Ahmad's version is long and is mentioned in the chapter on ingratitude toward one's spouse in the Book of Marriage. Its chain is hasan. Shahr bin Hawshab's hadith is hasan unless proven otherwise, and it has corroborating narrations as explained in detail in the place referred to above.It was also narrated by Tirmidhi (2697) and others through the route of Abdul-Hameed bin Bahram, that he heard Shahr bin Hawshab saying, "I heard Asma bint Yazid relate that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by the masjid one day while a group of women were sitting there, so he made a gesture with his hand in greeting." And Abdul-Hameed gestured with his hand. Then Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan hadith."Ahmad bin Hanbal said, "There is no harm in the hadith of Abdul-Hameed bin Bahram from Shahr bin Hawshab."
