The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Jibreel kept urging me to take care of the neighbor until I thought he would make him an heir."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: ما زال جبريل يوصيني بالجار، حتى ظننت أنه سيورثه.
Bukhari reported it in Al-Adab (6015), and Muslim in Al-Birr wal-Silah (2625:141), both through the route of Yazid bin Zuray, from Umar bin Muhammad, from his father, from Ibn Umar, who narrated it.
