The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He is not one of us who does not show mercy to our young and respect to our elders."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: ليس منا من لم يرحم صغيرنا، ويوقر كبيرنا.
Bukhari narrated it in Adab al-Mufrad (353), Ibn Abu Dunya in Nafaqah ala Iyal (186), and Hakim declared it sahih (4/176), all through the route of Abdullah bin Wahb, who said, Abu Sakhr narrated to us, from Yazid bin Abdullah bin Qusayt, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it. Its chain is hasan because of Abu Sakhr, who is Humayd bin Ziyad, whose narrations are hasan. Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in its chain."There are similar reports conveying the same meaning from Ibn Abbas, Anas, Jabir bin Abdullah, Ubada bin Samit, Wathila bin Asqa, and others, and there is discussion about all of them, but these supporting narrations strengthen what has preceded from the hadith of Abdullah bin Amr and Abu Hurairah.His saying, "He is not one of us," means he is not following our path, our method, and our way of conducting ourselves with mercy toward children.
