I came to the Prophet ﷺ to speak with him about captives of ours who had been taken during the days of ignorance. There he was, seated, with a ring of people gathered around him as he spoke to them. He was wearing a thick striped wrap from Qatar. He said, I heard him say, while pointing with his finger, "A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. He does not wrong him, nor does he abandon him. Piety is here, piety is here," meaning in the heart.
Ahmad (16624) narrated it from Abu Nadr, who said, "Mubarak narrated to us, who said, Hasan narrated to us that a sheikh from Banu Sulayt informed him," and he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Mubarak, who is the son of Fadala, for his hadith is hasan when he explicitly states that he heard it directly, and he did state this explicitly here. Abbad bin Rashid also corroborated him, narrating from Hasan with the same wording, as found in Ahmad (16644, 20278).Haythami said in al-Majma (8/184), "Ahmad narrated it through several chains, and its chain is hasan, and Abu Yaala narrated something similar."
