He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Allah said, 'I am ar-Rahman. I created the womb and derived its name from My own name. Whoever maintains its ties, I will maintain ties with him, and whoever severs them, I will sever ties with him.'"
أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول: قال الله عز وجل: أنا الرحمن، خلقت الرحم، وشققت لها من اسمي اسما، فمن وصلها وصلته، ومن قطعها قطعته.
Narrated by Tirmidhi (1907), Abu Dawud (1695), Ahmad (1681), Ibn Hibban (443), and Hakim (4/158), all of them from the hadith of Zuhri, "Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf told me that Abu Ridad Al-Laythi informed him, from Abdul-Rahman bin Awf," and he mentioned it.In another version, Abdul-Rahman bin Awf visited a man among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ called Abu Ridad, and Abu Ridad said, "The best of them and the most connected of them, as far as I know, Abu Muhammad," and he mentioned the hadith.Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Abu Ridad is among the companions, as Ibn Hajar mentioned in Al-Isabah, and likewise before him Abu Naeem, Ibn Abdul-Barr, and others.
