The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah created creation, and when He had finished, kinship rose up and said, 'This is the place of one seeking refuge from being cut off.'Allah said, 'Yes. Would it not please you that I keep ties with whoever keeps ties with you, and cut off whoever cuts you off?'Kinship said, 'Yes indeed.'Allah said, 'Then that is yours.'"Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Recite, if you wish, 'So can it be expected of you, if you turn away, that you will spread corruption in the land and sever your ties of kinship? Those are the ones Allah has cursed, so He made them deaf and blinded their eyes. Do they not reflect upon the Quran, or are there locks upon their hearts?'" [Muhammad 47:23–24]
Bukhari narrated it in al-Adab (5987), and Muslim in al-Birr wal-Silah (2554), both through routes from Muawiya bin Abu Muzarrid, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, who said, "My uncle Abul-Hubab Saeed bin Yasar narrated to me, from Abu Hurairah," and he related it.
