The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The act of obedience that brings the swiftest reward is maintaining ties of kinship. A household may be sinful, yet their wealth grows and their numbers increase when they keep their family ties intact. And the sin that brings the swiftest punishment is transgression and treachery. The false oath taken to seize another's right destroys wealth, diminishes offspring, and leaves homes desolate."
Tabarani related it in Mujam al-Awsat - Majma Bahrayn (2108) - from Ahmad bin Aqal, who said, Abu Jafar Nufayli told us, who said, Abu Dahma Basri told us - a truthful sheikh - from Muhammad bin Amr, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, who said, and then he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Abu Dahma, for he is a truthful sheikh, as Nufayli, who narrated from him in this chain, described him, and he was his student and knew about the states of his teacher more than others. As for Ibn Hibban, he declared him daif, and perhaps he had not come across Nufayli's confirmation of his reliability.Tabarani's teacher Ahmad bin Aqal is Ahmad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid bin Aqal, Abu Fawaris Tamimi Harrani. Abu Urwah said, He was not to be trusted regarding himself or his religion. Ibn Adi said, He is among those whose hadith is recorded.I say, it is strengthened by the mursal report of Makhul Shami, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The quickest good deed to be rewarded is maintaining family ties, and the quickest sin to be punished is oppression, and the false oath that is sworn deliberately leaves homes desolate."Bayhaqi related it in Sunan al-Kubra (10/35-36) with his chain from Yaala bin Ubayd, who said, Sufyan told us, from Abu Ala, from Makhul, who said, and then he mentioned it. Its narrators are trustworthy, except that it is mursal. His saying "balaqi" is the plural of balqa and balqaa, meaning barren land in which there is nothing. On this subject there is also a report from Abdul-Rahman bin Awf that the Prophet ﷺ said, "The quickest obedience to be rewarded is maintaining family ties, to the point that a household may be wrongdoers regarding their wealth, yet their numbers increase when they maintain family ties, and the quickest disobedience to be punished is oppression and the false oath sworn deliberately, which destroys wealth, renders the womb barren, and leaves homes desolate."Bayhaqi related it in Shuab (7601) by way of Hisham bin Hassan, from Yahya bin Abu Kathir Yamami, from Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, from his father, who said, and then he mentioned it.Its chain is disconnected, for Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf did not hear from his father, as Bukhari and others stated. See Jami Tahsil (378).Bayhaqi said following the hadith, "They differed over it from Yahya. It was reported this way, and it was also reported from him, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, and it was also reported from him" - meaning Yahya bin Abu Kathir - "disconnected" - meaning mursal - "and that is more sahih."
