I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Among the most righteous acts of devotion is a child's maintaining ties with the loved ones of his father."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: إن أبر البر صلة الولد أهل ود أبيه.
Muslim narrated it in The Book of Righteousness and Maintaining Ties (2552:11), from Abu Tahir Ahmad bin Amr bin Sarh, who reported, Abdullah bin Wahb informed us, Saeed bin Abu Ayub informed me, from Walid bin Abu Walid, from Abdullah bin Dinar, from Abdullah bin Umar, that a Bedouin man met him on the road to Makkah, and Abdullah greeted him, let him ride the donkey he himself was riding, and gave him the turban that was on his head.Ibn Dinar said, We said to him, "May Allah keep you well, these are just Bedouins, and they are satisfied with little."Abdullah said, "This man's father was a friend of Umar bin Khattab, and I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say," and then he mentioned it.
