The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us holding something resembling a small shield. He set it down, then sat behind it, and the Prophet ﷺ urinated toward it.One of the people said, "Look at him urinating like a woman urinates."The Prophet ﷺ heard him and said, "Woe to you. Do you not know what happened to the man from the Children of Israil? Whenever any urine touched them, they would cut that part off with scissors. He forbade them from doing so, and for that he was punished in his grave."
خرج علينا رسول الله ﷺ وفي يده كهيئة الدرقة، قال: فوضعها، ثم جلس، فبال إليه النبي ﷺ، فقال بعض القوم: الظروا إليه يبول كما تبول المرأة، قال: فسمعه النبي ﷺ، فقال: ويحك، أما علمت ما أصاب صاحب بني إسرائيل، كانوا إذا أصابهم شيء من البول قرضوه بالمقاريض، فنهاهم، فعلب قبره.
Ahmad narrated it (17758) - and this is his wording - as did Nasai (30) and Ibn Majah (346), all of them through Abu Muawiya, from Amash, from Zayd bin Wahb, from Abdul-Rahman bin Hasanah, who related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Hafiz graded it sahih in Fath al-Bari (1/328).His saying, "the daraqah" (with two fatha vowels and a qaf), means a shield made of leather that contains no wood or sinew.
