I slapped a slave who belonged to us, then I fled. I came back just before the noon prayer and prayed behind my father. He summoned the slave and summoned me, then said, "Take retaliation from him." So the slave pardoned me.Then he said, "We, the sons of Muqarrin, during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, had only one female servant. One of us slapped her, and news of that reached the Prophet ﷺ. He said, 'Free her.' They said that they had no other servant besides her. He said, 'Then let them keep her in service, and when they no longer need her, let them set her free.'"
لطمت مولى لنا فهربت، ثم جئت قبيل الظهر، فصليت خلف أبي، فدعاه ودعاني، ثم قال: امتثل منه، فعفا، ثم قال: كنا بني مقرن على عهد رسول الله ﷺ ليس لنا إلا خادم واحدة، فلطمها أحدنا، فبلغ ذلك النبي ﷺ فقال: أعتقوها، قالوا ليس لهم خادم غيرها، قال: فليستخدموها، فإذا استغنوا عنها، فليخلوا سبيلها.
