He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "When one of you loves his companion, let him come to him in his home and inform him that he loves him for the sake of Allah." And I have come to you in your home.
أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول: إذا أحب أحدكم صاحبه فليأته في منزله فليخبره أنه يحبه لله، وقد جئتك في منزلك.
Ibn Mubarak narrated it in Zuhd (712), and from his route Ahmad (21294), and Abdullah bin Wahb in his Jami (232), both from Ibn Lahia, who said, Yazid bin Abu Habib told us that Salim Jaishani came to Abu Umaya at his house and said, "I heard Abu Dharr say," then he mentioned it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Ibn Lahia, about whom there is well-known discussion, but the narration of Ibn Mubarak and Ibn Wahb from him is sound. Haythami also graded it hasan in Majma (10/281).
