Saad bin Abu Waqqas reported,

Umar bin Khattab sought permission to enter upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Some women of Quraysh were with him, asking questions and pressing him for more, their voices raised above his own. When Umar asked permission to enter, they hurried to put on their veils. The Prophet ﷺ gave him permission, and Umar entered while the Prophet ﷺ was laughing.Umar said, "May Allah keep you smiling, Messenger of Allah. May my father and mother be ransomed for you, what made you laugh?"He replied, "I am amazed at these women who were with me. As soon as they heard your voice, they rushed to their veils."Umar said, "Messenger of Allah, you are more deserving of their awe."Then he turned to the women and said, "Enemies of your own selves, do you stand in awe of me but not of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"They answered, "Yes, because you are harsher and rougher than the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Well said, son of Khattab. By the One in whose hand my soul rests, never does Satan meet you walking down a path without taking a different path from yours."

Sahih
