The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The dearest of you to me, and the closest to me in seating on the Day of Resurrection, are those of you with the finest character. The most hateful of you to me, and the farthest from me in seating on the Day of Resurrection, are the chatterers, the pompous talkers, and the mutafayhiqun."The companions asked, "Messenger of Allah, we know who the chatterers and pompous talkers are, but who are the mutafayhiqun?"He replied, "The arrogant."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: إن من أحبكم إلي وأقربكم مني مجلسا يوم القيامة أحاسنكم أخلاقا، وإن أبغضكم إلي وأبعدكم مني مجلسا يوم القيامة الثرثارون والمتشدقون والمتفيهقون، قالوا: يا رسول الله، قد علمنا الثرثارون والمتشدقون فما المتفيهقون؟ قال: المتكبرون.
Tirmidhi (2018) narrated it from Ahmad bin Hasan bin Khirash Baghdadi, who said, Habban bin Hilal told us, who said, Mubarak bin Fadala told us, who said, Abd Rabbih bin Saeed told me, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir, and he related it.Its chain is hasan because of Mubarak bin Fadala, for his hadith is hasan when he states his source explicitly. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith from this angle. Some of them narrated this hadith from Mubarak bin Fadala, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir, from the Prophet ﷺ, without mentioning Abd Rabbih bin Saeed in it, and this is more sound. Ath-tharthar is one who talks excessively, and al-mutashaddiq is one who acts arrogantly toward people in speech and abuses them."This is what he said, meaning that mentioning Abd Rabbih bin Saeed in the chain is a mistake, even though Mubarak bin Fadala said, "Abd Rabbih bin Saeed told me," and the one who narrated from him, Habban bin Hilal, is trustworthy, so his addition should be accepted. In it Mubarak bin Fadala states his source explicitly, since he is a mudallis. This agrees with Tirmidhi's ruling on the hadith that it is hasan gharib from this angle.
