A man from his people reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by him and said, "Recite these two in your prayer," meaning the two surahs of refuge.
عن رجل من قومه، أن رسول الله ﷺ مر به فقال: اقرأ بهما في صلاتك أي: بالمعوذتين.
Ahmad (20744) narrated it from Affan, who said, Shubah narrated to us, from Jareeri, from Yazid bin Abdullah bin Shikhir, who said, and he mentioned it. The unnamed man is Uqba bin Amir, as in the previous hadith. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Jareeri is Saeed bin Iyas, who became confused in his memory before his death, but Shubah heard from him before the confusion set in.
