Mahmud bin Labeed reported,

When the verse "Competition for increase distracts you" [Takathur 102:1] was revealed, he recited it until he reached "You will surely be questioned that Day about the blessings" [Takathur 102:8].They said, "Messenger of Allah, about which blessings will we be questioned? We have only the two black things, water and dates, our swords are on our shoulders, and the enemy is right before us. So about which blessings will we be questioned?"He replied, "That will surely come."
