He was picking a toothstick from an arak tree, and his shins were very thin. The wind began to sway him from side to side, and the people laughed at him.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What are you laughing at?"They replied, "Prophet of Allah, at the thinness of his shins."He said, "By the One in whose hand my soul is, they are heavier in the scale than Mount Uhud."
أنه كان يجتني سواكا من الأراك، وكان دقيق الساقين، فجعلت الريح تكفوه، فضحك القوم منه. فقال رسول الله ﷺ: مم تضحكون؟ قالوا: يا نبي الله من دقة ساقيه. فقال: والذي نفسي بيده لهما أثقل في الميزان من أحد.
Ahmad (3991), Abu Yaala (5310), Bazzar - Kashf Astar - (2678), and Tabarani in Kabir (8452) all narrated it, all of them by way of Asim, from Zirr bin Hubaysh, from Ibn Masud, who related it.Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (7069), narrating it from this same route. Its chain is hasan on account of Asim, who is Ibn Abu Najud, concerning whom there is disagreement, though he is a narrator whose hadith is hasan.Haythami said in Majma (9/289), "Ahmad, Abu Yaala, Bazzar, and Tabarani narrated it through several routes... and the best of these routes contains Asim bin Abu Najud, whose hadith is hasan despite his weakness, and the rest of the narrators of Ahmad and Abu Yaala are the narrators of the Sahih."
