He heard the Prophet ﷺ delivering a sermon in which he mentioned the she-camel and the man who hamstrung her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man set out toward her who was mighty, fierce, and well-protected within his clan, like Ubayy bin Zamah," and the rest of the hadith.
أنه سمع النبي ﷺ يخطب، وذكر الناقة والذي عقر، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: انبعث لها رجل عزيز عارم، منيع في رهطه، مثل أبي زمعة الحديث.
Bukhari narrated it in tafsir (4942) and Muslim in the Book of Paradise (2855), both through Hisham bin Saad, from his father, that Abdullah bin Zama informed him, and he related it. The wording given here is Bukhari's, and Muslim's wording is similar.
