The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not sleep without having the tooth-stick beside him, and when he awoke, he would begin by using it.
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان لا ينام إلا والسواك عنده، فإذا استيقظ بدأ بالسواك.
Ahmad (5979) and Abu Yaala (5749) both narrated it through Abu Dawud Tayalisi, who said, Muhammad bin Muslim bin Mihran, a client of Quraysh, told us, I heard my grandfather narrating from Ibn Umar, who said, and then he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Muslim bin Mihran, who is Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Muslim bin Mihran bin Muthanna Qurashi, their client. Ibn Main and Daraqutni said of him, "There is no harm in him." His grandfather, Muslim bin Mihran, also called Muslim bin Muthanna, is reliable, and Abu Zura confirmed his reliability.Haythami said in Majma (2/263), "Ahmad narrated it, and it contains someone unnamed."I say, the one left unnamed is a well-known reliable narrator, and he is the grandfather of Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Muslim bin Mihran, whose name is Muslim bin Mihran.
