Masruq reported,

Masruq said, I was reclining beside Ayesha when she said, "Abu Ayesha, there are three things, and whoever says any one of them has invented a monstrous lie against Allah."I asked, "What are they?"She said, "Whoever claims that Muhammad ﷺ saw his Lord has invented a monstrous lie against Allah."I had been reclining, so I sat up and said, "Umm Muiminin, give me a moment and do not rush me. Did Allah not say, 'And he certainly saw him on the clear horizon' [Takwir 81:23], and 'And he saw him another time' [Najm 53:13]?"She replied, "I was the first person of this community to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about that, and he said, 'It was only Jibreel. I never saw him in the form in which he was created except on those two occasions. I saw him descending from the sky, and the vastness of his frame filled everything between the sky and the earth.'" And the hadith continues.

عن مسروق قال

كنت متكئا عند عائشة فقالت: يا أبا عائشة ثلاث من تكلم بواحدة منهن فقد أعظم على الله الفرية. قلت: ماهن؟ قالت: من زعم أن محمدا ﷺ رأى ربه فقد أعظم على الله الفرية. قال: وكنت متكئا فجلست، فقلت: يا أم المؤمنين أنظريني ولاتعجليني، ألم يقل الله عز وجل: {ولقد رءاه بالأفق المبين}[التكوير: ٢٣] {ولقد رءاه نزلة أخرى}[النجم: ١٣]. فقالت: أنا أول هذه الأمة سأل عن ذلك رسول الله ﷺ. فقال: إنما هو جبريل، لم أره على صورته التي خلق عليها غير هاتين المرتين رأيته منهبطا من السماء سادا عظم خلقه ما بين السماء إلى الأرض… الحديث.
