Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Tawhid (6505), from Yahya bin Yusuf, who said, Abu Bakr informed us, from Abu Husayn, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.His saying, "What do you have to do with mentioning it?" [Naziat 79:43] means, what benefit is there for you or for them in knowing the time of the Day of Judgment? There is no religious or worldly benefit for you or for them in it. Rather, the benefit lies in its concealment, and that is why Allah reserved knowledge of it for Himself alone and did not reveal it to any of His creation. He alone knows its precise time. In Surah Araf it says, "They ask you about the Hour, when will it come to pass? Say, 'Knowledge of it is only with my Lord. None can disclose its time except Him. It weighs heavily on the heavens and the earth. It will not come upon you except suddenly.' They ask you as if you were well informed about it. Say, 'Knowledge of it is only with Allah,' but most people do not know" [Araf 7:187].His saying, "It will be as though, on the Day they see it, they had not remained except an evening or a morning thereof" [Naziat 79:46] refers to the disbelievers who denied the resurrection and the raising of the dead. When the Hour comes and they emerge from their graves, the terror of it will be so overwhelming that it will seem to them they had remained in their graves only a short while, like an evening, that is, the last part of the day, or the morning following that evening.
