The Prophet ﷺ said, "When you see Allah granting a servant the worldly things he loves despite his disobedience, it is only a gradual lure toward destruction."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: إذا رأيت الله يعطي العبد من الدنيا على معاصيه ما يحب، فإنما هو استدراج.
Imam Ahmad (17311), Tabarani in al-Awsat (9268), and Bayhaqi in al-Qada wal-Qadar (2/566) all narrated it through various routes from Harmala bin Imran Tujibi, from Uqba bin Muslim, from Uqba bin Amir, who related it. Hafiz Iraqi graded it hasan in Takhrij al-Ihya (4/115). The discussion of it is given in detail in the tafsir of Surah Anam, verse 44.
