I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "When the prayer is being called, do not come to it running. Come to it walking, maintaining tranquility. Whatever you catch, pray it, and whatever you miss, complete it."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: إذا أقيمت الصلاة فلا تأتوها تسعون، وأتوها تمشون، وعليكم السكينة، فما أدركتم فصلوا، وما فاتكم فأتموا.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on adhan (636), and Muslim in the chapter on mosques and places of prayer (602), both through Ibn Shihab Zuhri, who said, "Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman told me that Abu Hurairah said," and then he mentioned it. The wording given is that of Muslim, and the wording of Bukhari is similar.
