Abdullah bin Masud reported,

The moon split while we were in Mecca, and the disbelievers of Quraysh among the people of Mecca said, "This is magic by which Ibn Abu Kabsha has bewitched us. Wait for the travelers to come to you. If they tell you that they saw the same as what you saw, then it is true. Otherwise, you have been deceived."He said, "Not a single person came to them from any direction except that he informed them that he had seen the same as what they had seen."

عن عبد الله بن مسعود قال

انشق القمر ونحن بمكة، فقال كفار قريش من أهل مكة: هذا سحر سحرنا به ابن أبي كبشة، فانظروا إلى السفار يأتونكم، فإن أخبروكم أنهم رأوا مثل ما رأيتم، وإلا فقد كذبتم قال: فما جاءهم أحد من وجه من الوجوه إلا أخبرهم أنهم رأوا مثل ما رأوا.
