The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you makes a wish, let him consider carefully what he wishes for, since he does not know what portion of his wish will be recorded for him."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إذا تمنى أحدكم فلينظر ما يتمنى، فإنه لا يدري ما يكتب له من أمنيته.
Ahmad (8689), Abu Dawud Tayalisi (2341), Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad (794), and Abu Yaala (5907) all reported it through the route of Abu Awana, from Umar bin Abu Salama, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, who said, and then he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Umar bin Abu Salama, for there is disagreement about him. It is reported from Ibn Main that he declared him daif, and it is also reported from him that he saw no harm in him. Abu Hatim said, "In my view he is decent and truthful in origin, but he is not that strong, his hadith is written down but not relied upon as proof, he differs in some things." Ahmad said, "He is decent and trustworthy, Allah willing." Bukhari said in his Tarikh, "He is truthful, except that he differs in some of his hadith."I say, someone like this, his hadith is graded hasan unless he differs. Ibn Adi said, "His hadith is hasan, there is no harm in him."Tirmidhi (3604/m6) reported it through the route of Abu Awana, from Umar bin Abu Salama, from his father, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said. This version is mursal, but the ruling belongs to whoever connects it.
