I asked Zirr bin Hubaysh about the saying of Allah the Exalted, "And was at a distance of two bow-lengths or nearer. So He revealed to His servant what He revealed." [Najm 53:9–10]He said, Ibn Masud narrated to us that he saw Jibreel having six hundred wings.
Bukhari related it in "The Beginning of Creation" (3232), from Qutayba, who said, Abu Awana told us, Abu Ishaq Shaybani told us, and he related it. Muslim also related it in "Faith" (174), through another route, from Shaybani, with similar wording.
