They said, "Messenger of Allah, you joke with us."He replied, "I only speak the truth."
قالوا: يا رسول الله، إنك تداعبنا فقال: إني لا أقول إلا حقا.
Tirmidhi narrated it in his Sunan (1990) and in Shamail (237), and Ahmad (8723), both of them via the route of Usama bin Zayd Laythi, from Saeed Maqburi, from Abu Hurairah, who related it. Tirmidhi said, a hasan hadith.I say, Usama bin Zayd is truthful, but he was corroborated. He was followed by Muhammad bin Ajlan, who is also truthful. Ahmad narrated it (8481), and Bayhaqi in al-Kubra (10/248), both of them via the route of Muhammad bin Ajlan, from Saeed bin Abu Saeed Maqburi, from Abu Hurairah, who related it.
