The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah the Exalted says, "Son of Adam, devote yourself to My worship, and I will fill your heart with contentment and relieve your poverty. If you do not, I will fill your hands with occupation and will not relieve your poverty."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: إن الله تعالى يقول: يا ابن آدم تفرغ لعبادتي أملأ صدرك غنى وأسد فقرك، وإلا تفعل ملأت يديك شغلا ولم أسد فقرك.
Tirmidhi (2466) and Ibn Majah (4107) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (393) and Hakim (2/443) graded it sahih, all of them by way of Imran bin Zaida bin Nashit, from his father, from Abu Khalid Walibi, from Abu Hurairah, who related it. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith." I say, it is as he said, for more than one person narrated from Zaida bin Nashit, yet no one confirmed his reliability except Ibn Hibban, and for this reason Hafiz said, "Acceptable," meaning if corroborated. I did not find anyone who corroborated him, but I did find something that strengthens it, namely the hadith of Maqil bin Yasar, narrated as a statement of the Prophet with similar wording.Hakim narrated it (4/326) by way of Hafs bin Umar Hawdi, who said, Sallam bin Abu Mutee narrated to us, who said, Zayd Ammi narrated to us, who said, Muawiya bin Qurra narrated to us, from Maqil bin Yasar, who related it. Zayd Ammi is daif, but he is not problematic when used for corroboration and supporting evidence.A note of caution, an omission occurred in the printed edition of Hakim's Mustadrak, where the mention of "Zayd Ammi" was dropped between Sallam bin Abu Mutee and Muawiya bin Qurra. It is mentioned in the Hilya (2/303).
