Mahmud bin Rabi informed me, and he is the one into whose face the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spat water from their well when he was a boy. Urwa narrated from Miswar and others, each confirming the other's account, that whenever the Prophet ﷺ performed ablution, they nearly fought one another over the water left from his ablution.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on wudu (189) through the route of Salih bin Kaysan, from Ibn Shihab, who mentioned it. As for his statement, "Urwa said, on the authority of Miswar and someone else," they said that the pronoun in "someone else" refers to Marwan, based on what Bukhari narrated at greater length in the chapter on conditions (2731), from Abdul-Razzaq, who said, Mamar informed us, who said, Zuhri informed me, who said, Urwa bin Zubayr informed me, from Miswar bin Makhrama and Marwan, each of them confirming the other's account, and they mentioned the story of the Prophet's ﷺ departure at the time of Hudaybiya. In it he said, "When he performed wudu, they nearly fought over his water from wudu." The hadith will come in full in the chapter on jihad.
