When the verses "Indeed, We have given you a clear conquest, that Allah may forgive you" up to His saying "a great attainment" [Fath 48:1–5] were revealed upon his return from Hudaybiyyah, while sorrow and gloom still mingled among the people, and he had already sacrificed the offering at Hudaybiyyah, he said, "A verse has been revealed to me that is more beloved to me than the entire world."
لما نزلت: {إنا فتحنا لك فتحا مبينا ليغفر لك الله} إلى قوله: {فوزا عظيما}[الفتح: ١-٥] مرجعه من الحديبية، وهم يخالطهم الحزن والكآبة، وقد نحر الهدي بالحديبية، فقال: لقد أنزلت علي آية هي أحب إلي من الدنيا جميعا.
Muslim narrated it in jihad and expeditions (1786) from Nasr bin Ali Jahdami, who said, Khalid bin Harith narrated to us, who said, Saeed bin Abu Aruba narrated to us, from Qatada, from Anas bin Malik, and he related it. Bukhari also narrated it in tafsir (4834) through another route from Qatada, in an abridged form.
