The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Trim the moustaches and let the beards grow. Differ from the Magians."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: جزوا الشوارب وأرخوا اللحى؛ خالفوا المجوس.
Muslim narrated it in Kitab al-Tahara (260), from the hadith of Ala bin Abdul-Rahman bin Yaqub, the freedman of Hurqah, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, who related the hadith.His words "arkhu," "afu," and "awfu" all mean to let it grow full and abundant.
