Harith bin Yazid Bakri reported,

I set out to lodge a complaint about Ala bin Hadrami to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. As I passed through Rabadhah, I came upon an old woman from Banu Tamim who had been stranded there.She said, "Abdullah, I have a need to bring before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Will you take me to him?"So I carried her along, and we arrived at Madinah. There I saw black banners flying.I asked, "What is the matter with the people?"They said, "He intends to dispatch Amr bin As on an expedition."I sat down until he was finished. Then he entered his home, or he said, his lodging. I asked permission to see him, and he granted it. I went in and sat down.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked me, "Was there anything between you and Tamim?"I said, "Yes, and the upper hand was ours over them. I passed by Rabadhah and found one of their old women stranded there. She asked me to bring her to you, and here she is at the door."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave her permission, and she came in.I said, "Messenger of Allah, place the Dahna as a barrier between us and Tamim."The old woman flared up and sprang to her feet, saying, "Where else are you going to drive your people, Messenger of Allah?"I said, "I am just as the saying goes, a goat that carried its own death! I carried this woman without realizing she would become my opponent. I seek refuge in Allah and His Messenger from being like the envoy of Aad."He asked, "And what is the envoy of Aad?"I said, "You have asked one who knows," for he was drawing the story out of me.I continued, "Aad suffered drought, so they sent Qayl as their envoy. He stopped with Bakr, who served him wine for a whole month while two slave-girls called the Jaradatan sang for him. Then he went out to the mountains of Mahrah and called out, 'I have not come for a sick man to cure, nor for a captive to ransom. O Allah, give Aad the rain You used to give them.' Black clouds passed by him, and a voice called out from them, 'Take them as ashes scattered, leaving none of Aad alive.'"He said, the woman kept saying, "Do not be like the envoy of Aad!"It has reached me, Messenger of Allah, that the wind sent against them was no more than what could pass through this ring of mine.Abu Waail said, "That is what has reached me as well."

عن الحارث بن يزيد البكري قال

خرجت لأشكو العلاء بن الحضرمي إلى رسول الله ﷺ، فمررت بالربدة، فإذا عجوز منقطع بها من بني تميم، فقالت: يا عبد الله، إن لي إلى رسول الله ﷺ حاجة، فهل أنت مبلغي إليه؟ قال: فحملتها، فقدمت المدينة. قال: فإذا رايات سود، قلت: ما شأن الناس؟ قالوا: يريد أن يبعث بعمرو بن العاص وجها. قال: فجلست حتى فرغ. قال: فدخل منزله أو قال: رحله- فاستأذنت عليه فأذن لي، فدخلت فقعدت، فقال لي رسول الله ﷺ: هل كان بينكم وبين تميم شيء؟ قلت: نعم! وكانت لنا الدبرة عليهم، وقد مررت بالربذة، فإذا عجوز منهم منقطع بها، فسألتني أن أحملها إليك، وها هي بالباب. فأذن لها رسول الله ﷺ، فدخلت، فقلت: يا رسول الله، جعل بيننا وبين تميم الدهنا حاجزا، فحميت العجوز واستوفزت، وقالت: فأين تضطر مضرك يا رسول الله؟ قال، قلت: أنا كما قالوا: معزى حملت حتفا! حملت هذه ولا أشعر أنها كانت لي خصما! أعوذ بالله ورسوله أن أكون كوافد عاد! قال: وماوافد عاد؟ قلت: على الخبير سقطت! قال: وهو يستطعمني الحديث. قلت: إن عادا تحطوا فبعثوا قيلا وافدا، فنزل على بكر، فسقاه الخمر شهرا وتغنيه جاريتان يقال لهما الجرادتان، فخرج إلى جبال مهرة، فنادى: إني لم أجئ لمريض فأداويه، ولا لأسير فأفاديه، اللهم فاسق عادا ما كانت تسقيه! فمرت به سحابات سود، فنودي منها: خذهارمادا رمددا، لا تبقي من عاد أحدا. قال: فكانت المرأة تقول: لا تكن كوافد عاد! فما بلغني أنه أرسل عليهم من الريح، يارسول الله، إلا قدر ما يجري في خاتمي. قال أبو وائل: فكذلك بلغني.
