The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever does not ask Allah, He becomes angry with him." In another wording, "Whoever does not call upon Allah."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: من لم يسأل الله يغضب عليه وفي لفظ: من لم يدع الله.
Reported by Tirmidhi (3373) - and this is his wording -, Ibn Majah (3827), and Ahmad (9719) - and the other wording belongs to both of them -, and Hakim (1/491), all of them through various routes from Abu Malih Madani, who said, "I heard Abu Salih narrate from Abu Hurairah," and he related it.Hakim added, "Indeed Allah becomes angry with whoever does that, and no one else does it," meaning in supplication.Then he said, "This is a hadith sahih in its chain of transmission, for Abu Salih Khuzi and Abu Malih Farsi have not been criticized, they are only counted among the unknown narrators because so little has been transmitted from them." End of quote.I say, it is not as he claimed, for Abu Salih Khuzi is disputed, though his hadith is hasan. The discussion of this is set out at length in the book on supplications.
