The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to the cemetery and said, "Peace be upon you, abode of a believing people. Allah willing, we shall join you. How I wish we could see our brothers."The companions asked, "Are we not your brothers, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "You are my companions. Our brothers are those who have not yet come."They asked, "How will you recognize those of your community who have not yet come, Messenger of Allah?"He said, "Tell me, if a man had horses with white blazes on their foreheads and white markings on their legs among horses that were entirely jet-black, would he not recognize his own horses?"They said, "Of course, Messenger of Allah."He said, "They will come with bright faces and shining limbs from the traces of ablution, and I will precede them at the Pool. But beware, Some men will be driven away from my Pool just as a stray camel is driven off. I will call out to them, 'Come, come!' Then it will be said, 'They changed after you.' So I will say, 'Away with them, away with them.'"
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Purification (249) through several routes from Ismail bin Jafar, who said, Ala told me, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.Sufyan said, "Whoever dislikes saying, 'I am a believer, if Allah wills,' is, in our view, a Murjiite, drawing out his voice with it."A man said to Alqama, "Are you a believer?" He said, "I hope so, if Allah wills."Bayhaqi said in Shuab al-Iman (1/83), "We have narrated this from a group of the companions, the followers, and the righteous predecessors, all of them ."As for what has been narrated from Abu Hurairah as a saying of the Prophet, "Part of the completeness of a servant's faith is making an exception when speaking of it," this is fabricated. Ibn Jawzi mentioned it in al-Mawduat (284).Likewise, what has been narrated from Anas as a saying of the Prophet, "Two groups of my nation will not be reached by my intercession, the Murjiites and the Qadarites." It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, who are the Qadarites?" He said, "A people who say there is no predestination." It was said, "Then who are the Murjiites?" He said, "A people who will appear at the end of time, who, when asked about faith, say, 'We are believers, if Allah wills.'" This too is fabricated. It was reported by Ibn Jawzi in al-Mawduat (282), and by Juzqani in al-Abatil (34), who said, "This hadith is void, and its chain contains deep darknesses."
