Asi bin Waail picked up a bone from the open ground, crumbled it in his hand, then said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Will Allah bring this back to life after it has reached the state I see?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Yes. Allah will cause you to die, then bring you back to life, then admit you into Hell."The verses at the end of Surah Yaseen were then revealed.

Ibn Abu Hatim narrated it, as Ibn Kathir mentioned, as did Ibn Jareer Tabari in his commentary (19/487), and Hakim (2/429), all of them through various routes from Hushaym, who said, Abu Bishr informed us, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, and he related it. Its chain is sahih, except that Ibn Jareer related it from Saeed bin Jubayr as a mursal narration, without mentioning Ibn Abbas, but the ruling belongs to whoever connects the chain. Hakim said, "This is a hadith that is sahih according to the standard of the two Shaykhs."
